Desktop Metal and Evonik Expand Partnership, Announce Qualification of Photopolymer on Large Format Additive Manufacturing 2.0 Systems for High-Performance, High-Temperature Products
Desktop Metal, Inc. (NYSE: DM), a global leader in Additive Manufacturing 2.0 technologies for mass production, and Evonik, a leading materials provider in 3D printing technology based in Germany, announced their expanded collaboration on photopolymer and materials development with the qualification of INFINAM® ST 6100 L on the ETEC Xtreme 8K and the Pro XL.

Dutch thermoplastic composite pipe producer Strohm bags €15M
Netherlands-based Strohm, a hydrogen pipeline company, announced on Thursday, December 15, that it has raised €15M in a fresh round of funding. Robotic Maintenance in the Chemical Industry: Evonik Relies on Getac F110 Tablet to Control Autonomous Robot
Evonik relies on Getac’s F110 ATEX certified tablet to control the robot and teach it automated inspection routes around the facility. The company chose the F110-EX due to its powerful performance and excellent reliability, compared to other rugged computing alternatives. In addition, Getac’s fast response and high degree of flexibility while integrating the solution were key factors in creating an optimal working environment for the Proof of Concept (PoC). The robot’s software was provided by Energy Robotics, while the robot itself was supplied by Boston Dynamics.
Evonik builds world's first industrial-scale production plant for rhamnolipids
Evonik is investing a three-digit million-euro sum in the construction of a new production plant for bio-based and fully biodegradable rhamnolipids. The decision to build the plant follows a breakthrough in Evonik’s research and development. Rhamnolipids are biosurfactants and serve as active ingredients in shower gels and detergents. Demand for environ-mentally friendly surfactants is growing rapidly worldwide.
The investment at the Slovenská Ľupča site in Slovakia strengthens Evonik’s partnership with the consumer goods group Unilever, which began in 2019. At the same time the investment allows Evonik to further expand its own market position in the growth market for biosurfactants. The new plant is scheduled to come on stream in two years.
